How To - Full Recipe Costing (without choices and prepared items)
In this guide we will look at a recipe that already has ingredients added but also requires a prepared item(s) to be included as part of the dish. The purpose of this exercise is to demonstrate setting up of a prepared item and adding this to a recipe.
As a prepared item is a made up batch items and stored, it can be used as an item to be counted in stock auditing.
Leek & Potato Soup Recipe

Click the Insert Ingredient button

Change the product type to be a Prepared Item

Use the sub category drop down and choose the required category for the prepared item to be associated with

Enter the prepared item (batch) name.
The example below shows this for the leek and potato soup prepared item: - When the ingredients are entered into the prepared item they will make up a total batch amount; this should be specified next in the preparation batch field, for example 1kg. The storage count unit is used as the default unit within stock auditing for which you would count this batch item.

Either by using the insert button on your keyboard or by pressing the Insert Ingredient button, enter all the required ingredients that make up the batch amount (this is a similar to adding ingredients to a recipe), ensuring that the unit and quantity are specified for each item.
- When the prepared item is completed, it is ready to be inserted into the recipe as any other ingredient would be - specify the quantity required.
Any number of prepared items can be added to a recipe, and as they are added the cost of that proportion of the batch will be displayed.
